1. The Government House

With so much romance and very little crowds this location has always been a winner in my books. Much like the Legislature the Government House offers the best romantic vibes with it's spectacular architecture. Unlike the Legislature, this location isn't always packed with crowds of tourists and other visitors though on occasion it can get a little busy now that the ledge has been under construction for so long. Still, if I had to pick between the Ledge or the House I would always pick the House. You can find the Government House in our stunning Glenora neighbourhood of Edmonton. Making this spot very central and easy for clients traveling from anywhere in or around the city. The Government House is the perfect place to capture a sophisticated set of glamorous engagement photos. This location was made for clients who want to dress up so go ahead and wear a long dress, high heels and men pull out your suit jackets. It's your time to shine. The building itself adds elegance to your album and this is reason enough to shoot here. An added bonus is the award-winning gardens. This corner of the property sets the stage for flawless images every time.

2. Kinsmen Park

Kinsmen Park is my favorite location when you're searching for a rustic look but want to stay in the city. The park is home to the John Walter Museum. The museum is essentially a small collection of white wooden homes that were built in the late 1800's. The weathered white wood never fails to give any images that perfect country vibe. There are a couple beautiful trails and mature trees scattered about the property. One big reason I would select this location is if my clients wanted to incorporate their truck or vintage car into the photos. I say this because there is a perfect spot to park under the high level bridge at the back of the park. The bridge adds a ton of drama to these photos and if you time the session around sunset the sky behind the bridge really puts on a show. Another awesome thing to note about this location is how close you are to the Walterdale Bridge. This brand new modern bridge helps give your finished photo album some dimension by mixing the rustic and sleek look together, and it's rare to find this all in one location without having to travel around the city.

3. MacTaggart Sanctuary

This is likely the newest spot on my list of favorites. MacTaggart Sanctuary offers a true outdoorsy vibe for clients who don't want anything to do with city inspired photos. Right as you leave the parking lot you will find yourself just steps away from a huge walking bridge covered with rusty blue chipped paint. This is actually the only architectural spot in the park. The rest of the park offers dirt paths, long golden grass, mature trees and simply beautiful nature scenes. I find sunrise photos are particularly magical at this location. The rich warm glow of the morning sun lights up earth. It dances in between the batches of tall grass and creates a romantic mood for photography. This spot is overall simple compared to the others but its impact on images is powerful.
