I'm sure you've all heard the old wives' tale that rain on your wedding day is good luck. If you're anything like me, you might have thought this was a small white lie to help cheer up a devastated bride as it pours down on their outdoor ceremony. I mean, how is this good luck!?
Well, this is how the saying goes "As you know, a knot that becomes wet is extremely hard to untie, therefore, when you “tie the knot” on a rainy day, your marriage is supposedly just as hard to unravel!" and while I like that analogy I still think most brides would rather not be wet in their very perfect white dress on their very special, once in a lifetime day.
However, what if I told you there are some real upsides to a little rain washing your day out? I'm serious! Here are some reasons why you shouldn't fear the rain!

The number one reason I don't mind a little rain is because of the lighting. Yes! The lighting. My all-time favourite photos were taken moments before or after a little rain. The light around us is diffused so evenly that it's like we live in a beauty filter. As a photographer, I can't ask for a better photo opportunity! Picture this, a perfect photo of you and your partner snuggled under a clear umbrella with a rainbow in the background and that perfect dewy light surrounding you both in that moment. Tell me that doesn't sound breathtaking!
The Flowers Will Be Thankful
Real flowers in your bouquet, boutonniere, table centrepieces or decoration around the venue will last so much longer if they get the chance to enjoy some rain throughout the day.
What A Story!
Think about the laughs and thrills you will get out of running around under clear umbrellas with the love of your life, like children again in love and caught up in the moment. Your wedding day stories will be that much more epic.
